Visiting Pony Town.

go back

The pony.town is an online, MMO RPG game where you're playing as your pony, or other creature.

You will be greeted with a pixel apple logo, unfortunately you will need JavaScript enabled to continue. People who have a VPN or Tor will get a CloudFlare wall forcing them to "verify your browser against DDoS." which means that the pony.town domain is behind CloudFlare which makes it repulsive to most privacy paranoid individuals. Developers removed google analytics this year.

Let's go forward. You're on the site, what now? You just see.

Well, you have to use "social media" to even bypass the login wall, no email, no password. The discriminatory part about this is creating an account on these sites to be able to connect and authorize your pony.town login. Thing is, if this is your newest account, you'll get an instant timeout, which is very annoying. When I set up my account, I noticed that the timeout for Discord was five days and for Twitter two days, which is a bit suspicious that you get different timeouts for different social media accounts.

So we are "logged in" on site. The first thing you might be interested in is the character editor. It is quite nicely polished, developers add something from time to time. I created my main OCs and I have to admit that despite the simplicity it looks nice. Advanced shading and characters with lots of detail are also possible, but I haven't tested it.

Account info has pretty basic information, player ID, username and date of birth. Your date of birth may affect whether you can use 18+ rated servers. The developers themselves can force a restriction on your account if they think you are underage. If something like this would happen, you only have the option to write to the support email. A few years ago I tried to contact the developers on Discord, but I didn't get much of a chance to get any useful information.

To enter the game, just select a server and click join... People who have a browser with webgl disabled will be blocked with notification to enable webgl in the browser configuration. For Firefox, the best way is to open about:config, search for webgl.disabled and change it to false.
Here's the recent map for spring 2023.

The community in pony.town is quite friendly. It's quite rare for people to randomly send you a friend request and then never respond to your "hey?". Many are there just for role play, even erotic role play... It looks good for people who are comfortable being horny as their characters...

There are also people who prefer to run around the map and talk about various things. My favorite type of people in the game are people who tend to talk about technology. Recently I read a chat of some group thinking about the problems with social media. A large part of the community is quite naive and stupid. Selfdoxing is the most common thing I could notice. Ask someone if they are minor or an adult... They will tell you how old they are. Such situations are really annoying and many people can exploit it.

The developers are active in the game... Like? They reside in the so-called AFK. You may have a chance that they will respond to you if they notice your message to them. Once I was in a silly situation talking to them, Stuben wrote "meow" as the server. Funny good memories.

The best way to get support is to email them about the problem. It may be a bit off-putting because they use gmail, but they will manage to reply. I haven't checked if gmail can block legit emails to them from other domains. Gmail tends to have broken algorithms that throw everything into spam.

The rules are quite simple. Normies are very cut off from abusing the game if they get banned or something. But sometimes it happens that people just have it all somewhere else. It's amazing how quickly you can create a new account after any limit. There are many types of restrictions. Shadow ban, blocked character export, temporary or permanent ban, kick from the game for offensive words and random teleportation... However, some people still push the limits and do it all for their experiments. I did the same three years ago. Funny how exploitation can reveal different vulnerabilities.

So if you are fine with all this. Have a nice game!
